In 2012, Negin Mirsalehi was just completing a master’s degree in marketing at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam when she decided to start an Instagram account as a diversion from her studies. Fast forward six years, and she has become one of the biggest fashion bloggers across the globe – with over 5 million Instagram followers to her name.
With Negin turning 30 today, we thought it made for the perfect excuse to help celebrate her career. Below, we take a look at what makes Negin one of the most sought-after fashion influencers in the industry…
1. Negin started her own haircare company Gisou three years ago
Negin is not just a fashion influencer, she’s also the founder of a successful haircare company, Gisou. Using her influencer status to help launch the brand, Gisou has quickly become a product that she and many others swear by – and has been featured in the likes of Vogue Spain, Vanity Fair Italy, and Grazia UK. Gisou features key ingredients extracted from bees, such as honey and propolis, to help nourish the hair.
2. She works with only the brands she believes are the best
We’ve taken note that Negin mostly works with high-end luxury designer brands like Dior and Balmain, but that doesn’t mean she teams up with every brand that requests a collaboration. Negin is now famous for having previously rejected a $US800,000 deal from a brand due to conflicting interests. And if you’re wondering how much a brand has to pay her, she charges a rate between $15,000 to $20,000 per sponsored post.
3. Negin has been nominated for the Revolve Awards 2018… again!
Coined the ‘influencer prom’ last year, the second inaugural Revolve Awards 2018 sees Negin being nominated for ‘Influencer of the Year’ and ‘Beauty Brand of the Year’ (for Gisou). We’re interested to see if she reigns champion as influencer of the year for a second time running…
4. She’s a part of this year’s Forbes 30 under 30 Europe list
The highly coveted Forbes ‘30 under 30’ list is only awarded to the ‘best and boldest young leaders, creators and thinkers’ who have made a significant impact in their field. With spots highly sought after, Negin was one of the few influencers who received a spot in the 2018’s ‘Forbes 30 under 30 Europe’ list thanks to her success with Gisou.
5. Her YouTube channel gives a behind-the-scenes look into her life
If you can’t get enough of Negin’s fabulous life from her Instagram feed, her Youtube channel gives a further glimpse of what goes on in her everyday life at home, in the office, or at one of the many fashion events we secretly wish we could attend. Creating her first video two years ago, she now has a total of 80 videos on her page with a following of 280K+ subscribers.
