Hear that? The sound of champagne bottles popping, waves crashing and laughter reverberating are all multiplying as we begin to set sail for the summoning of the new year. Woohoooo. But before we officially start the countdown to 2018, a look back on the year that was is in order.
In quintessential Husskie style, we’re turning to the ‘grams and blogs of our favourite social media influencers and style icons to wrap-up some of the most significant milestones reached by the biz’s best over the past twelve months.
From white weddings to baby showers and other memorable moments in between, it’s fair to say that 2017 has set the bar high and hit us with bountiful #feels. Party poppers at the ready, it’s time to take a (not-so-distant) trip down memory lane…
1.Β Elsa’s Wholesome Life became engaged
With the simple caption βA million times YES β₯οΈ @alexwatsonβ, 2017 saw popular food and lifestyle influencer Elsaβs Wholesome Life’s Ellie Bullen become a fiancΓ©e after beau Alex Watson popped the question. It’s been a big year for Ellie, with the qualified dietitian and go-getter also becoming a published author with a glossy book deal.Β ELSA’S WHOLESOME LIFE, the cookbook, launched in early 2017 and functions as a microcosm of all the food things she loves in life. “It is literally an explosion of colour (confetti on cue), vegan recipes (over 100), nutrition info from a qualified nutritionist (me), lifestyle tips and world wanderlust! …AΒ piece that I have poured my entire heart and soul into..”, says Ellie.
2. Chiara Ferragni: A company, a house, stores, an engagement, and a baby on the way
You probably can’t top Chiara Ferragni‘s year… she basically ticked off all the big #lifegoals all in one swoop. And while we could do a write-around about them all, we think it’s better we just let Chiara tell it like it is:Β “2017 was my year of growing. Not only the year I turned 30 but, more than ever, the year I took responsibilities. To buy my first house in Los Angeles, to open my first stores, to get engaged, to take over my company, and to become a mother. How did this all happen so fast? I donβt even know. I guess step by step, only focusing on what has always made me happy: people I love and the job I created for myselfβ¦ I have so much to be thankful for this 2017 I could explode from happiness… Canβt wait to give my best in 2018 and to meet the person Iβll love the most in the whole world. See you soon Leo, and bye to the best 365 days of my life, yet ?”.
3.Β Tuula Vintage had a beautiful baby
Jessica Stein of the incredibly alluring blog Tuula Vintage gave birth to Rumi Willis Cooper in March this year. After a difficult pregnancy, Rumi was diagnosed with the rare chromosome disorder Mosaic Trisomy 2.Β Jessica and her partner Pat showed immense love and determination through raisingΒ over $120,000 in less than 24 hours to pay for the medical care of their new daughter, and have taken impressive strides to raise awareness for this peculiar condition. The family were eternally humbled by the outcry of support and generosity following this period, sharing a snap of a smiling Rumi with the caption “our little phenomenon, at home on better days”.
4. Harper and Harley tied the knot
Ultimate sophisticate and style frontrunner Sara Crampton shared glorious glimpses of her elegant wedding with the world in 2017. Most of us may know her as the face behind fashion utopia Harper and Harley, but as Sara revealed personal pieces of her engagement and wedding day with her followers – we began falling in love with the romantic side of this fashion mogul.Β The couple were married in a lush garden-set ceremony in Tintenbar, New South Wales, and shared their special day with a crop of other Australian fashion influencers, including the likes of Talisa Sutton andΒ Kate Waterhouse.
Zoe Foster Blake welcomed baby number 2 while building a beauty and fashion empire and becoming a children’s author
ZFB has wowed us yet again with her innumerable achievements in just a year. As the peachy beauty mecca of Go-To skincare climbed to new heights of popularity, Zoe simultaneously welcomed her first ever children’s book title onto the reading pile, a fashion collab with Skin and Threads, and a brand new bub into the mix. As witty and fabulously silly as ever, ‘No One Likes A Fart’ saw cheeky grins emerge across the nation, and her followers were in raptures with the welcome of baby Rudy into the world. “Introducing Rudy Hazel Blake,” ZoΓ« wrote on Instagram, “Or, as she’s known in hip-hop circles, the Notorious RHB.
