When it comes to choosing what items of clothes we wear, these days – style bloggers and influencers have a lot to answer for. With a knack for finding pieces that perfectly combine high street with high couture, below we take a look at the fashion pieces you’ll be wearing this season – taken straight from our favourite IG style stars.
1. Wicker bags
Beach bags, over-the-shoulder, mini clutches… round, square, rectangle… you name it and this season is seeing bags go wicker crazy.
Seen on: Collage Vintage, Maria Bernad, A Pair and a Spare.
2. Metallic boots
Teamed with everything from jeans to dresses, metallic boots have become the footwear of choice for those street style stars looking to add a little disco to their day.
Seen on: Song of Style, Lissyroddyy, Maya Stepper.
3. Cut-off jean bottoms
We began seeing this style last year, but in 2017 – the trend of jeans with frayed bottoms seems to be continuing to go strong. [Good news for the shorties amongst us who have to take in account the cost of hemming for every jean purchase we make.]
Seen on: Carodaur, Harper & Harley, We The People Style.
4. Gingham
With a flashback to the checkered past of the 40s and 50s, gingham is making a big return this season – and it’s covering everything from tops, to dresses, to swimmers (and even bags).
Seen on: Megan Ellaby, Lucy Williams, The Fashion Cuisine.
5. Midi skirts
Not quite maxi, not quite mini – the midi is that length in between that has us feeling all cute and flirty. This length can be teamed with any footwear that takes your fancy – think sneakers, heels or sandals.
Seen on: Pernille Teisbaek, Kaity Modern, Margo And Me.
6. Couch florals
Not going to lie, when this trend first started making an appearance – we weren’t too sure about the nanna vibes it was giving off. But we’ve come around – and now falling a little in love with anything patterned antique.
Seen on: Majawyh, Margaret Zhang, Happily Grey.
7. Deconstructed shirts
Why wear a shirt the normal way when you can have a little fun with it?! This season has seen shirts turned off-the-shoulder, worn backwards, and even made into strapless numbers. A modern twist on a staple.
Seen on: Camille Charrière, Beige Renegade, Yoyokulala.
8. Bold drop earrings
Nothing screams statement like a good bold drop earring – and in 2017, they going big. Like real big. Don’t be afraid to team yours with a edgy outfit because in 2017, anything goes.
Seen on: Could I Have That, Brooke Testoni, Sincerely Jules.
9. Retro swimwear
Baby they’re back. From high-waisted to pin-striped one pieces, retro swimwear has slowly begun trickling in to find a place beside the Brazilian bikinis made extremely popular over the past 12 months.
Seen on: Camila Coelho, Chriselle Lim, and Pandora Sykes.
10. Baker boy hats
A particular favourite trend here at Husskie, it seems baker boy hats are now a matter of course for style influencers across the globe… and we do not mind a bit. The perfect accessory for a pair of swimmers, matched back with denim for down-time days or donned with a dress for a evening sojourn – baker boys are getting a good little run at the moment.
Seen on: Isabellath, Elle Ferguson, Amelia Gray.
