To help celebrate International Women’s Day, yesterday saw The Body Shop invite media and influencers to the Heart Café in Bondi Beach, Sydney to recognise women’s empowerment and hear from some of Australia’s most influential and inspiring women.
Speakers included Australia’s first female Foreign Minister The Honourable Julie Bishop MP, author and academic Dr Susan Carland, CEO of the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria Antoinette Braybrook, and specialist breast cancer surgeon Dr Chantel Thornton. While all speakers came for different career backgrounds – the underlying commentary was of a similar vein: the importance of realising gender equality.
Renowned globally for its work with charities, The Body Shop is no stranger to empowering women – with its Community Trade Shea Butter product alone helping the women of Ghana by providing community projects like healthcare, sanitation, water and education that benefit 49,000 people every year.
