As moody clouds lingered in the background, this afternoon saw the iconic Sydney Opera House become abuzz as fashionistas hit the scene for the first show on this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia calendar – Dion Lee’s Resort collection.

Bringing his traditional utilitarian aesthetic to the outside venue, models took to the catwalk in gentle tousled “undone” hair by Jon Pulitano for Redken, while Maybelline New York makeup artist Nigel Stanislaus put a focus on strobing using the Maybelline V-Face Contour and Highlight Duo Stick.

For Husskie, obviously all eyes were on those in attendance – with a slew of our favourite influencers out in force for the debut show (see above for a gallery of Day 1 shots). In fact, with Maybelline having its squad of Sammy Robinson, The Tia Fox, Heidi Makeup Artist’s Heidi Hamoud, Cartia Mallan, and Friend In Fashion’s Jasmin Howell all backstage – we may have overstayed our welcome hanging out the back taking shots of the girls… #worthit

For a look at all the street style action from Day 1, take a flick through the above gallery. We’ll be bringing you our pick of the best street style shots throughout MBFWA – so be sure to tune in throughout the week…
