With news SABA was taking on an exciting new direction this season with the launch of its exclusive ‘Bridesmaid Collection’, the Husskie team were thrilled to team up with the iconic Australian fashion brand to shoot the new range. With the picturesque backdrops of the Pullman Hotel, Hyde Park and McKell Park in Darling Point, NSW – the collection of three 100% silk designs across two colourways were brought to life by the SABA x Husskie content shoot.
Inspired by classic SABA silhouettes, head womenswear designer Tanya Emon describes the range to Husskie: “We wanted to make sure the Bridesmaid Collection was still very wearable and relevant to the SABA range, so we further developed silhouettes that we had already designed for the main range and delved a bit deeper into draping – adding soft, considered flounces to create nice movement… perfect for the walk down the aisle or a fluid photo moment.”
To help capture the collection, Husskie called on the talents of models Emily Doherty, Georgia Pretty and Georgia Flitcroft, while Aimee Egan was on hair and Kirsten Harriott on makeup. As Aimee and Kirsten each worked their magic, we began styling Emily and the two Georgias. With champers on hand, music playing in the background, and a photographer capturing the “getting ready” moments – all that was really missing was a wedding itself.
Keeping in mind the three styles and two colourways of the SABA Bridesmaid Collection had been designed to sit back together and were able to be mixed and matched, we decided to shoot the girls in different combinations of both the navy and blush. Knowing we would later be shooting in a park, we opted for the blush dress at the Pullman (with Georgia Petty in the navy) to help complement the romantic aesthetic of the room.
It was then onto McKell Park, where we would do Part 2 of the shoot. While rain threatened to throw us a curveball, it managed to hold out – and we were again able to shoot the girls in a mixture of both the navy and blush. With a backdrop of park benches, garden pathways, and harbour views, the venue turned out to prove quite the dream location (and not surprisingly, we later found out it’s actually often used for weddings).
With our allotted shoot time up and the first splashes of rain beginning to shower down, it was time to call it a wrap and head back to the safety of our cars (while taking a quick mandatory scroll through the shots).
