When bikini influencers-turned-super savvy business women Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman turned up in town for the launch of their new Monday Swimwear collection, you just knew it was going to be an all-class affair. As the likes of Elle Ferguson, Jade Tuncdoruk, and Sarah Ellen descended on The Butler β hidden in the backstreets of Potts Point, Sydney β the girls took guests through their Resort 18 collection βParadise Foundβ over an intimate brunch.
With event styling described as an βeclectic oasisβ, the space was designed to mirror the undisturbed tropical paradise of Kauai, Hawaii where the brandβs campaign was captured. Along one wall featured the swimwear range in hues of sea glass, burnt orange, plum, scarlet red and storm grey. βMonday Swimwearβs Resort β18 Collection, Paradise Found, was inspired by the idea of uncovering something hidden and beautiful. The feeling of stumbling across a magical beach or a breathtaking scene is encapsulated in this seasonβs colours and campaign,β reveals Tash and Devin.
As strong advocates of body positivity, the girls emphasised the fact that Monday Swimwear has now abolished sizes XL/ XXL in favour of V/VV for Voluptuous and Very Voluptuous. βBeing in the business of bikinis, weβve learnt the difference between our size and how a certain style might require us to go up or down on the size chart. Aside from our bust, we are the same βsizeβ in clothing, but this tends to fluctuate with swimwear. Each of us own suits that range from XS-XXL, and we fully appreciate the frustration of having to settle for a size that fits some parts, but not others,β says Tash.
βDevin was especially passionate about wanting to offer a realistic and conscientious size range that would allow shoppers to choose suits that were the right fit for them without being discouraged by conventional labels β so we changed our sizing at Monday Swimwear from XL & XXL, to V & VV (for Voluptuous/Very Voluptuous). The Voluptuous range is designed for women with DDD-F cups, is fully adjustable, and can be customised to fit the way you want to feel; comfortable, supported, and stylish!β
When it comes to a favourite style in the range, Devin laughs: βItβs so hard to choose! But if we had to choose one each, mine would be the Somerset Top and Capri Bottoms in Burnt Orange, and Tashβs would be the Bahamas one piece in Plum. But we canβt commit to only those ones β our favourites change every day, hahaβ.
As a thank you from Monday Swimwear and event partner St Tropez for their ongoing support, guests left with a gift bag that included swimwear from the βParadise Foundβ range and a selection of St Tropez products including the new bronzing face sheet mask.
